8800gtx on its way out ?

Recently when i play bf2 my pc crashes and nvidia something or other .dll pops up and says its stopped responding. Also the fan on my card has started getting louder and sometimes makes noises as if the fan is catching on something, but its not.

I cleaned the case out the other day to cure dust etc and it didnt happen again untill today.

Is this a sign that its dying and if so what other cards are out there that are equivalent to an 8800gtx ? i do folding in spare time but im not obtuse to a good bit of Ati loving

Im not sure whats going on now, but when i run bf2 it ctd's and my monitor goes black, and i get an exlamation mark in a yellow triangle in the systray, which i cant click on etc, and goes away after about 5 seconds ?

Yeah thats it. I rebooted and it works fine now, wierd!

get a hoover on the fan and a little paint brush works wonders! i do it every few weeks and reduces my idle temps by 5oC usually and quieter

Driver error, not necessarily the card that's at fault.

It seems it crashes when i have foobar2k or any other mp3 software running in the background.

Im reverting to 178.24 nvidia drivers as ive had nothing but trouble with 18* series!!!

Yeah I suddenly got this load of crap appearing too yesterday every couple of mins my screen would go black then appear few moments later with the "....stopped responding" message as a balloon tip on the taskbar.

I looked it up and it's almost certainly NOT your graphics card on the way out but a driver bug. Strangely it also happened to me when I was playing mp3s\looking at porn...Something to do with video codecs or something I reckon.

Im Having this problem with my 8800GTX however sometimes it doesnt even let me back into windows all i get is a black screen and game noise..... And when i tried to reboot once my screan had funny dots/lines in green and red running across it? Could my problem be a bit more seriuos then a GFX issue?
