Seriously whats the difference with these two cards, i thought the ati one would be better as its got a 1gb version and a few other things the nvidia one hasnt ?

The 1 gig card helps some in the call of juarez benchmark, weird thing is the framerate is no better but theres far less stuttering with the 1 gig card compared to my 8800gtx when i had it.
Only one example but theres more out there showing a 1 gig card having advantages over the 512mb card, but for most games its about the same.

This is real simple, the GTX is the better card and will give you more fps in your games, the 1GB performs the same as the 512MB version though you may get some extra fps at some extreme resolutions, the extra memory is noway worth the extra outlay for the card.

If you wanted an x2900xt you'd be better off going for the 512mb version, and as mentioned the 8800GTX is the superior card.
The x2900xt is getting a lot better with driver revisions and is beginning to push the 8800GTX on *some* games and settings, but the overall winner is the 8800GTX, whereas the 2900XT floats somewhere between the GTX and GTS.

1gb 2900 is only about 2fps at a push faster than its 512mb little brother, GTX is faster than both. 
I would still go with the 512mb 2900XT, NV's new cards wont be that long away and I suspect the 512mb 2900XT will hold untill then, but the GTX does appear the be the fastest card, allthough with no AA the 2900XT can pull up to the GTX, it can in some games with AA enabled I think such as TDU, Doom 3 etc..
