BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
or
BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Is the extra £100 worth it?

Will be running dual screen with Intel Core 2 DUO E6600.

Cheers,
Tom

GTX Because of the high ress or as im sure many others will say... hold off till ATI's new batch of cards are out :)

Actually wait till ATI and Nvidia new batchs are out. If not a GTS would do also, those res are not going to push either card very hard..... for willy waving rights (GTX) which wont last long because of the ATI v NV new cards arriving in next few months

Erm.... care to eloborate on that statement, cause that is biggest pile rubish I think I heard in a while tbh.... unless your going to pull the rabbit out the hat with that statement.... ATI are bringing out a card which will prob beat a NV card 6 month in production but not by a huge margin.... plus the 89 series NV card will prob be around the same as the new ATI. Even driver support from NV is meant to be brought into line with ATi with new Drivers every month etc....

I think you'll find they are supposedly doing their monthly driver updates already, as you can clearly see its not happening, they only managed 1x set then the wheels fell off, their support is truly dire. :)

listen forget about ati.....just imagine they dnt exist......8800gtx at the moment is turd simple as.....you got a formula 1 car(8800gtx) but of course a formula one car is nothing without a driver yes.....if its got no driver formula one car is just a show piece that dnt move....so ok lets give the car a driver....of course we not going to put a crap driver in the car innit......what happens if we do???...the car aint performing no where near it potential...the car with a crap driver is slow.....dnt matter how good or powerful the car is.....if its got a goosed driver in there then your going to lose....

this is what nvidia have done.....they put a crap driver in a powerfull card....as you know dude power is absolutley nothing without control....the gtx is power with not much control.......who the hell in thier right mind would pay 4ton for a card that crashes in vista when playing games.....and messes up in xp 2......ive read about so many ppl complaining about the gtx crashing in xp and vista....im sick of hearing it....nvidia are absolute turd at the moment...no one should buy nvidia at the moment...thats the truth wether u like it or not.

Well in my mind putting it in your world, Drivers at present arent brilliant but well good enough to Compete, and as we are short of bench marks against competitors, I still cant see your arguement is going, apart from well short... against a camparison.... GTX is the leader regardless until R600 shows its colours... even then it will then show drivers are the way forward... until then then..... I still dont really see the point of your original statement.... I know this will be shortly debated way beyond my stupid point of view.... but hey...

Aunty Stella in my view has a point, drink has this affext on me..... :D

Go for a EVGA one and then you would have there setup option...

"90 Day Step-up/upgrade programme from day of purchase (Upgrade your card and only pay the difference direct with EVGA)"

my point is whats the point in buying a 4ton card if it aint performing as it should be.....how longs the gtx been out??? quite a while and nvidia still havent sorted the card out....you have to admit nvidia suck at the moment.....i'll be honest i dont want the thread starter to buy a card thats not supported well......wether ati is bringing out a card soon or not doesnt matter......the point is gtx aint being supported right.....if you bought a pc from my company who promised 2 support you.....and my support ended up being lame....would i suck???....course i would.

you sound like you are hating on me because i said nvidia suck

anyways peace dude.

I have to admit, nVidia driver support is just **** poor.

But I certainly thought the XP drivers worked a lot better, is that not the case?

Nope there mate, I just like a qaulified arguement and I didnt agree although I do to some degree see where your comming from, but I dont think its thats bad as yet... its a bit of a grey zone at the moment for DX9 and DX10 rekated arguements, hence why NV are pushing for better support at present in latest driver because of the push of newer games across XP and vista which doesnt have a ruling on DX10 as no games are out for DX10 games yet..... perhaps ATI are in the win there, a delay in cards for DX10 has helped them pushing for latest drivers without blinkers etc, I dunno....

I brought my 8800gtx 4 weeks ago and i have not had a problems so far with it....

If they were so bad as what a couple of people on here say they are..this forum would be full to the top with very angry 8800 owners and they would have all returned there 8800 cards to the retailer under the 7 day distance selling act or not fit for purpose..
