Hi all,

Some advice needed really, should I buy a 8800GTX now (as part of an upgrade i'm doing, using a 7900 at the moment) or hold fire for a couple of months and see how (If they appear) the new 9800's a) Perform B) how they affect the prices of the 8800's.

I'm long enough in the tooth to have been through the hold off...hold off...hold off for the next big thing trap but for the sake of a couple of months......might be worth it this time??

Ah....I thought I hadn't heard anything about the 9800's coming out next week :(

My choice is either a 8800GTX/ultra now or wait for the 9800's to come out

Given that despite their connections with Nvidia and the card manufacturers OCUK aren't even taking advanced orders yet it's unlikely the 9800 is due any time soon.

Anyway, why on earth does everyone keep saying a couple of months till these new cards, these cards most likely wont be out till next year. You will be waiting like 3-4months for these new cards and thats if they dont get delayed. Just buy a card when you have the money.

Personally I'd definately go for the 8800GTX now. Especially if you can get it for that price ^ :eek:

But yeah, what res are you playing at? What would the rest of the system be? And what games are you currently playing?
 
yo dude, haha irony av just posted a thread like this and the advise i got and agree with is that, u **** get a gtx, its top of the line (bar the ultra) and it will be atleast another year before it is completely obsolete (spelt wrong) so go for it. If not, i hope that wen the 9800 comes out, it is spectacular because it will be more than 1 and a half ultras.
 
TBH I think you are right, can't be waiting for another 6 months 'till the cards come out. Is it me or are Nvidia getting slower?

Anyway, thanks for your help all, going to get the Wallet out :D
