8800gx2 Pic...well maybe

I'm going to have to agree with you. I would expect the cooler on the card in the middle to be different.

Jokester

It looks like the bottom cards cooler exhausts through the backplate. God knows how it sucks air in though. The backplate is different to the other cards although it does look like two coolers simply stuck on top of each other.

200w power consumption. :eek::eek::eek:

If its like the 7950gx2 the air is drawn throught holes in the PCB.

200w is not a lot compared to todays top end cards - the 8800GTX can use over 300w at full load.

The 7900GX2 which was only really released to a few OEM vendors before being canned had a hole in the PCB, the 7950GX2 has no hole in the PCB and a different kind of cooler.

what is the sli performance of the 7900GX2(2 x 7900gt or what ever they are)in most games compaired one single card e.g (7900gt is 100%),140%-160% and will it be about the same performance over 8800gt ?

Depending on how CPU limited or not the game is you can get anything upto about 80% performance increase going SLI. And before anyone starts, you can manually select an SLI profile for any game.

No they don't, they shouldn't use more than 225W and it's likely in reality it'll be somewhat less than 200W.

Jokester

When overclocked they will use more than that, maybe not 300W but still! Still, even if it never used more than 225W there is no reason for a :eek: at a 8800GX2 using 200W when it is clear that current top end parts do in fact already use as much if not more than that. In fact 200W for such a card would be pretty good going!

Depends on game, CPU and resolution but in 1280x720, 1280x1024 and 1440x900 with all settings maxed, 4x FSAA, 16x AF on an E6600 I get pretty close to 200% (if one card is 100%) with my 7950GX2 in most of the latest titles... aslong as the game supports AFR properly then thats the way it is in most cases, ingames that only run properly in SFR mode then the gains are more typically 140-160% but those games are fortunatly few and far between.

Its been like this pretty much since the first 7 series SLI, it was only the 6 series with older drivers that didn't give particularly good gains - tho there have been some titles that didn't show huge gains on release but the next driver patch added specific SLI flags that supported those titles and it would be back up to close to double the fps...

At lower res like 640x480 you might not see anything even close to double the framerate unless you have a very good CPU. At ultra high res aslong as the game supports AFR properly you should see around 200% gain.
