My mates been having problems setting up his Dual screen setup on his new pc thats using a 8800gts, Seems he can't get it set to support both screens at there own native resolutions.
So went down to his flat checked myself and no it doesnt seem possible.

So I've come back upstairs to my flat tried it on mine and it will not support my 24" and my 17" at there native resolutions?

Have we both missed something really obvious, or do the drivers not actually support this. Every card I've ever tried dual screen with in the past has worked fine

Nope single card, we can both get it across 2 screens, but its limited to the resolution of the smaller screen. 1280x1024 on both of my screens and 1024x768 on his.

Anyone managed to get 2 different sized screens working on an 8800GTS, or could try it out for me?

I had this - you have to make sure you use their wizard and not try "advanced" or "custom" as for some wacky reason this doesnt let you do DualView. Managed to get it working fine in XP and Vista for some supreme commander action!.

I don't have any problems using 2 monitors at different resolutions and the 8800gts. Ultramon is a nice program ;)

I use the wizard and select custom, dual view etc.

well, i have my NEC monitor and HD LCD TV both running off my GTS with no problems. I got mine working by going into NVCP, then going to Display and under Multiple Display click Change Display Configuration. There should be a list of options, i find the best to use is the bottom one, Configure Independantly From Each Other (DualView). Select which one you want as the primary display then save.

Afterwards you should be able to set the resolutions of each screen to their own native ones in the standard Display Properties in CP or right clicking on the descktop. Also, make sure the Extend Windows Desktop option is checked.

Should have u sorted and running with no probs!

Showed my mate this thread, he's got it working, he's very happy now. Nice one lads.

Haven't got around to trying it myself yet though, been busy with work, which is probs a good thing as no doubt a long supcom session will occur if I have a second screen!

Hmm I had this problem trying to run a 20.1" widescreen and a 17" widesreen at different resolutions. Are you saying it's possible to run my main 20.1" at native res 1680*, and then an additional 17" at native res 1280*? And using the two screens together for SupCom (17" as map screen)?

GPU is an 8800GTX.

Ok right i've read up a bit on the two different resolutions thing but how can I run Supreme Commander using this method? Supreme commander won't be able to detect and set two different resolutions will it?

*scratches head like monkey*

SupCom has the options for 2 separate sized screens in it.
It was just the confusing drivers stopping it from working.

Woot! Going to try this tommorrow then... would be awesome having the 17" set up for the battefield overview map. :D

Just got around to trying it, whilst fiddly in comparison to other drivers... (needed a restart :/)

Great fun in Supcom, 4 seperate views :D
