Just been through a living hell (real heart in mouth moment) after upgrading to a Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5, AMD PhenomII X6 1090T and Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9). Built it up on a box and could not for the life of me get it to post. Removed one stick of RAM and it booted fine. Installed Windows, driver and a few essential apps. Temps were fine, system was stable till it went off. No blue screen, no shutdown, just powered off. Everytime I tried to boot got nothing on screen and 4 long beeps and one short. Tried resetting cmos, even removed the battery to no avail. Bought a relatively cheap AthlonII x445 but still the beeps. I tried franticly for three days to no avail and finally got an RMA on the mobo.
Before sending the board I bought a Corsair XMS3 kit for another build. I thought I'd try it and lo and behold I have a perfect, stable system.
It tells me that although it has the PhenomII badge on the box, this Corsair Vengeance can give problems in certain setups. I tried the vengeance in another setup (Asus) and it appears to be stuffed. Don't bring up overvolt/overclocks, I built this system so I wouldn't have to overclock. Nice mobo btw
