I was a bit torn if I should post this here or in keyboards, but I feel like it will be more appreciated here.

I just saw an announcement for a new keyboard coming out from 8BitDo based on the C64 and I am really loving it's look.

What do you guys think of it?

Looks like it would be perfect to hook up to a PiMiga setup.

I actually think it's nicer looking than the original Nintendo colour schemes (which were also really nice looking). The addition of the joystick with the two overly sized buttons is a really nice touch and in keeping with the era this keyboard is trying to evoke.

I love retro boards so this one is on my radar!

Recently built a Class60 with a similar theme with C64 keycaps.

Class60

Bit of a revive, I received my 8bitdo C64 edition at the weekend, came as a bit of a surprise as it wasn't due to arrive till the end of month.
I was a bit dubious about what the quality was going to be like, but the styling was really appealing to me. However any concern quickly dissapated when I started using it. I'm hugely impressed, it feels and sounds really well built. It's my first experience with kailh switches but I have to say I really like them. I'm coming from a razer huntsman v3 which are very tinny sounding and light to the press.
The 8bitdo keyboard has more weight to the key press, more positive tactile feel and a satisfying bottom out without being overly loud.
Wasn't sure the taller key caps would ideal, but they have a very satisfying concave profile that almost hug your fingertips.

I'm hugely impressed by the keyboard, the packaged accessories (super buttons and joystick) are very much cheap nasty feeling and a bit gimmicky, and will likely remain in the box.

Will likely pick up the matching numpad/calculator which appears is due for release in July.

I'm actually quite fond of Khailh browns, they got a bit of flack compared to competitors early on but I'd say I prefer them to the ever popular Cherry tbh.

Glad you're getting on with it, it's a gorgeous looking board! I'd love to see some pictures of it out in the wild if you have the time.

Yeah sure I'll see if I can get some photos up tomorrow evening after work.

It's been a little while since last ran cherry mx switches, I used to flip/flop between blues and browns, I've always preferred tactile switches. From memory I think I prefer these, these feel tighter with less slop in the key travel. We'll see how they hold out in the long run, but even if they don't last, the switches are apparently hot swappable.

I think people initially enjoyed the smoothness outside of the click on travel with Cherry. Khail has a sort of grain to the entire process that you can feel when pressing, which I find very appealing. I bottom out no matter which switch type when my speed gets up, so the tactility loses a little value without it.

Looking forward to the pics mate, and glad you're enjoying it!

Mouse arrived, unsure on it at the moment. I bought it knowing it was purely an aesthetic buy, I like the quirky "neo-retro" styling and watch a few reviews before purchasing so nothing came as a surprise to me when I got it, and those reviews were pretty much on the money. Materials actually feel decent quality. Quite small in the hand, surprisingly heavy for the size of it. Would have been nice if it came in the same shade as the C64 keyboard, but I knew that before buying. Think this would pair better with the IBM version.
I'll give it a good chance over the next few weeks, I might adapt to it fine. It certainly dosnt feel bad, just different, very short and "dumpy", a right "chode" of a mouse for want of a better word.

Had to buy the C64 keyboard after seeing it here. Didn't know about it.
I'd been on the fence with the Famicom version of the keyboard they had, but this one was an immediate buy. Should be same day delivery.

Edit: First impressions are good. It looks fantastic. Will set it up alongside my Ayaneo AM01 this week for maximum modern retro. Might need to get that mouse too...
