Evening folks....wondered if someone can clear something up for me...

I've just bought an Asus Z87-pro mobo to go with my 4770k cpu.

I have in my current AMD 965be build 2x4 gigs of 1600 kingston hyperx ddr3.

I wondered if these would go in the new mobo? (would try it but don't want to prematurely strip the old pc down in case it won't work.)

The part no. is KHX1600C9D3K2/8G I can't find this on Asus's QVL list as is but I can find the above no. with an x on the end (8gx)

Also I would take a guess that the x would refer to xmp but the description for my ram says each kit supports Intel XMP anyway so I don't know what the added x means. (I'm also guessing I don't need xmp anyway if I can just manually enter the timings myself by referring to current setting in current AMD mobo)

Cheers for any info...Andy.

Id say it should be fine. The qvl lists arent that upto date tbh. As for xmp, if your ram has it just enable it in bios. Saves the faffing about entering stuff manually.

Qvl isn up to date at all.
I was worried about my avexirs not being on it for my asus z87i-pro and they worked at 1600 out of the box. Few mouse clicks in bios an I had xmp setup at 2133. They work grreat so far.

Thanks for clearing that up folks. Still kinda want new memory to go with a new build..don't feel the same otherwise...but why throw money away. Tnx again. Andy.

I have run into problems with my Asus Z87-plus using similar ram:
Z87-Plus (1405 BIOS) 4770K processor - 16GB (4x4GB) Kingston HyperX Genesis 1600 XMP (KHX1600C9D3K4) - Samsung 830 SSD - Windows 7 x64
Most things left on 'auto' - Memory is identified correctly & I can enable XMP profile 1 without any problem, but only with the BIOS in 'standard' mode.
If I set BIOS to 'performance' mode I have to disable XMP, otherwise I suffer random BSODs.
