8gb for Sandybridge build

Need some advice on my new Sandybridge build, I ideally want 8gb and the Corsair Venegance would be perfect apart from the fact I'm planning to use an existing large HSF which overlaps the first memory slot. I've considered putting the modules in slots 2 & 4 but still think the space between the fan on the HSF and memory module in slot 2 would be too close, 1 or 2mm or even touching!

I want some memory that will run at 1600mhz using 1.5v so I'm looking at getting this Corsair XMS3 4gb in two sets thus filling all 4 memory slots but have read that this can impact overclocking ability. I'm not planning to overclock a 2500k to anymore than 4.2ghz, so would using all 4 memory slots be OK?

Thanks in advance.

I have looked at those ones but it says they run at 1.65v so my understanding is that they may not be able to run at 1600mhz at 1.5v and have to be under clocked to 1333mhz?

So? If they physically fit, 2x4gb in slots 2 and 4 would be best. 2gb xms sticks won't be any bigger than 2gb ones.

I have the XMS3 8gb 1600Mhz RAM in my system and its runs perfect and I have not
overclocked my memory at all, Its voltage is 1.5-165. It will run at 1600Mhz no problem

Currently got 4X2gb of the XMS3 with my 2600K. The ram is running 9,9,9,24 1600mhz at 1.488V..

Thanks, I'll go with the 2x4gb XMS3 since they look to be ok to run at 1600mhz with 1.5v

Sound choice - and even if they don't anything under 1.6V is OK and they should manage that easily.

I've yet to come across a post where someone has been forced to use the latest XMS3 sets over 1.6V (Most are setup at 1.5V - or less - mine included.)

EDIT: Obviously, ignore the XMP and setup the values manually - otherwise they'll default to 1.65V

Going for the Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz CAS8 myself. But the G-Skill Ripjaw Xs linked above are a fiver cheaper and perform exactly the same. They just dont look that great IMO and clearance isn't an issue when you're planning to use a H70.
