hi i have a gigabyte GA-EP35C-DS3R board
and ive installed 2x sticks of 4gb ddr3 totalling 8gb but windows only says 4gb usable. any ideas how i can get it to 8gb do i need to enable anything ?

yeah, it will be 4GB total addressable memory on a 32bit version of windows, and i think that also includes graphics card ram too. On my friends PC the 4GB RAM only shows up as 3.5GB due to that.

If you still see only 4gb afer installing the 64 bit version of windows, you may have to enable memory remapping feature in the bios.

I have 2 x 4GB sticks, but for some reason the RAM is reading at half capacity. With both in they say only 4GB and with only one in each reads at 2GB. :S
I'm running Win7 64bit, and haven't changed anything, how would I enable memory remapping on a Asus P8Z68-V? I'm hoping this would solve my problem and avoid an RMA.

Probably a totally stupid post, but are you absolutely certain that you didn't buy a 4GB kit by mistake, i.e. 2 x 2GB?
