8GB Mem ?

Hiya all,

I just wanted to know about performance of 8GB :eek:

atm i have 2x2GB sticks in my mobo, now the mobo can handle (apprently :rolleyes:

) 8GB so i have recently considered getting aother 2x2GB.

I was just wondering tho will i be able to feel the effects 8GB is applying or is 4GB just as good and maybe save my moola for a upgrade at a later date ?

With Vista x64 the more memory the better

Little difference with 4 and 8GB at the mo. It will help a bit, but the main area i see improvements with is when doing some serious image editing, say something like 6000x4000 pixels with 10's of layers because it can fit it all into memory without having to write to the HDD.

For games you wont see any difference really, you will in the future but nothing needs that much RAM yet.
4GB is the sweet spot for Vista if you just do pretty basic stuff and gaming.

under Vista Ulitmate x64 can max to 128GB but depend the max RAM in motherboard model - most of it are Max to 8GB and some to 16GB..
