Hi, I was looking at getting the OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-8000C5 ReaperX HPC,

I wondering if I buy 2 and go for 8gig will all 4 of the dimms fit alongside each other? The reason I ask is that the heatspreaders look quite large and I’m not entirely sure as to whether they will fit

it's this one:

from memory they won't fit w/out some tweaking to the sinks as you can see from the pics they aren't parallel with the ram.

Hi there

It is possible but it is a very tight fit and as already mentioned can take some tweaking of the heatsinks.

Some boards they fit absolutely fine in...

Infact, it didn't take any fiddling for me, and i have the same board as [ui]iceman (albeit the BFG flavour... exactly the same reference board though...)

Thanks for the replies :)

How are the heatspreaders attached to the dimms and how pliable are the heatspreaders?

I have a nasty feeling that in my hands something might snap:o

I’m looking at the G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-8000C5 now

So which would you all choose between the G Skill and the OCZ? There isn’t much of a price difference

Just to bump this thread.

I'm interested in these memory modules, and I'm happy to "tweak" the heatspreaders.

But my question is this, Surely if you have 4 heat spreaders touching, you are going to be creating a pretty intense heat source within your computer, Completely the opposite of what I'm wanting to achieve?

Thank for any help :)

Regarding heat, I have 2x2gb sticks and the heatspreaders rarely get more than slightly warm. They don't overclock much though, so maybe if they did they'd get warmer.
