8gb rather than 4gb?

i'm actually sorely tempted to buy simply because the price seems pretty good, a few quid cheaper than i paid a few months ago. given the way ram prices have been going they could actually be a good investment lol

shop error ;) they cottoned on once i purchased and they sent 2x2gb and i complained due to the description. They sent me 2x4 then bumped the price up another 150quid :D

if you dont use it dont bother. Whats it going to add? May aswell give me the money for all the good it'll do.

By the time you come to use it we'll be on ddr78 and you'll need to sell up and buy new anyway

Ive gone from 4gig to 8gig several times in the last 2 years and always had a Q6600 quadcore cpu.

Even just using windows 7 and few apps running in background I can just feel that 8gig makes performance just that little bit smoother....
Which is strange since I doubt im using up much memory at all, but guess with kaspersky running and a video/hd file running and torrent/sabnzb running most of the time it must play a factor into it.

If you can and if the price is right, check members market of ocuk special daily deals id say go for it !

OP from your description of usage, I doubt you'd notice extra RAM. Save your money towards something else.

Personally I don't think 8GB will be important for gaming until after developers get round to multi-threading enough to make good use of quad-cores. I know some games can utilise more than dual-cores, but it's not yet commonplace and they still don't heavily load extra cores.
