A lot of MBs appear to allow 8GB sticks in their slots and OcUK appear to be selling one kit. Are they going to become more common in the next few months/year before DDR4 comes out? Specifically are there likely to be lots of cheap sticks in the future or will they stay pretty exclusive?

That was the set I mentioned in the OP. Rather expensive however, which is why I'm wondering if we will get more available at all price points. :)

EDIT: Reason I ask is because I have no interest in over clocking any more and want to go as small as possible, m-ITX boards only have two slots though and at the moment that means 8GBs max. I want to know if in the future I'd be easily able to upgrade to 2x8GB sticks rather than 2x4GB sticks.

8GB DDR3 DIMMs and SO-DIMMs are surprisingly cheap now...

Exceleram Value Series (1x8GB DDR3-1333 DIMM) - £41.99 each
P/N: MEM-DDR3S-E30200A

Corsair Value Select (1x8GB DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM) - £49.67 each
P/N: CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9

All prices include VAT too. :)

Interesting, hopefully that means there ill be more full size RAM DIMMs on the way then, I guess there isn't any news of them yet though?:)

I wish there was a mini-ITX motherboard with four memory slots... :(

Komputerbay 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 1,333MHz RAM
P/N: KB_32GB_4X8GB_1333_DIMM_CL9

The RAM above is unbelievably cheap.

Perhaps cheap and nasty?

In case anybody comes across this thread after searching for Komputerbay, my experiences with them have been awful. I purchased 8GB of DDR3 laptop memory (i.e 2 * 4GB SODIMMS) from them for £195. After returning three sets of faulty RAM to them over the course of 6 months, I finally asked for a refund. They complied by sending me £20, claiming that this was because the price of memory had gone down since my original purchase. They offered to let me return the money and have another replacement memory kit sent out. The forth and final kit they sent me was 8GB in a kit of 2 * 4GB DIMMs (not SODIMMS). After that, I gave up.

tl:dr edition; avoid Komputerbay.
