Howdy,

I need some help trying to work out some bugs in my overclock and I've run into something I just can't get my head around. I've managed to clock my cpu to 4.5ghz with a cpu pll at 1.6 with a 1.35vcore, so can increase the pll to 1.85 to lower the vcore further, is that correct? (limited knowledge here on this platform really doesnt help!)

Also, this was done using the 100 BLCK setting, yet the motherboard I have in my sig has a "cpu upgrade" setting that can auto overclock it for you to 4.25ghz instead, but using a BLCK of 125hz. Now, this gives really nice performance due to the increased FSB instead of RAW mhz, yet the RAM gets stuck at 1333mhz, which isn't ideal as its rated to 2400mhz. I've tried changing it myself with a manual over clock using the same settings to something near the RAW profile speeds, which is 2333mhz at 125 BLCK, yet the computer doens't even boot at this setting.

How can I get my computer to boot with a higher BLCK than 100, but keep my raw mhz profile on my RAM to 2400mhz or near as dammit? I'll then look at trimming my timings down when I get that sorted, but so far even the start has got me stumped.

Also not pleased with my temps as my H100 is pushing around 83C at 4.5ghz in the highest mode it goes to, but due to my case design I can't put anymore fans on it to boost airflow :(

Any ideas?

Check my guide for this one mate.

Set BLK strap to 1.25, BLK 125. Memory divider to 2333 and set your multi as 36 for 4.5. Set your memory to the same timings as at 2400 and it should boot fine. If it does not screen shot your timings and post them here.

Doesn't boot using the 125 strap and BLK with even loose timings, regardless of the over clock. The memory is fine though as ive been memtesting it at 2400 with the cpu at 3.8ghz on the 100 strap and its rock solid, yet when I use a 125 it goes mental and refuses to boot. Think there might be some sort of RAM and mobo conflict, or the cpu enjoys 125 BLK yet the RAM hates it :(

Its definitely the BLK and strap being at 125 that the RAM hates with a passion. Its running happily at 2400mhz with standard timings on 100blk and strap with the cpu at 4.3ghz atm without issues. Think I need to get some better fans for my H100 though as the cpu gets toasty at 4.5ghz and above...

I think it may well be sub timings been set on 125 strap being too tight for the RAM. Transfer all the subtimings that auto sets at 2400 in bios to the corresponding value in the bios and try again. Also set Rampage tweak mode 1.

Yeah could well be! I'll have a go when I get chance mate. My system is rock solid stable using the 100 BCLK and strap but the extra FSB can't hurt lol.
