8X pci x 16x pci x

im looking at some motherboards and they have different speeds on them.

im confused by this but i wanna make sure i make the right choice cause im getting an 8800 what pcix mother board would be best?

x16

x16 only. It won't work otherwise. If you think you might want to SLI then you'll obviously need a mobo with dual 16x slots.

8800s do run OK on x8 but obviously x16 is preferrable..

That would suffice, but it's a hybrid board made up of the southbridge of an nForce 570 and the northbridge of the 650i. I'd get the non-plus version, which is a proper 680i board.

Are you considering SLI? If not, you'd be better off with a more stable Intel motherboard, i'd say.

Get a proper 680i if you need sli, if not go for intel p35/965p...
