hello have a problem with the 9.2 and now 9.4 patch for my ati 4870's crossfire..i can install the patch and it will work till i introduce crossfire to it and it will remove the crossfire then itself from opening..i removed one card and moved other to first and download again...have removed fully and reinstalled few times..and works again but second i put in the second card it does it again..reads Incompatible display adapter has been disabled. at least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because it's driver is not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter. called ati when this happened with the 9.2 and they suggest just moving back down to the 8.10patch and ya it works with that one but now 9.4 is out aswell and still this problem and few of my games are having weird issues that they suggest is not updated driver lol..plus i don't see why i can't get this fixed some how. here are my pc specs please help me out.
amd phenom(tm) 9650 quad core processor2.30ghz
8gb ram 64bit windows vista, X24870crossfire, msi k9a2 platinum motherboard, 750w powersupply. ty for any info and help that can get me running crossfire with the latest driver patches.

also when i reboot pc the crossfire option comes back but when i try to use it ..it repeats the error messages above and takes the crossfire option out again.

First apologies for this rudimentary suggestion as I'm an Intel man and not too familiar with the AM2 boards but did you insert the graphics cards into the dark blue slots. I only ask as these appear to be the x16 pcie slots but are quite far apart, I'm sure one could easily stick the second card into the lighter blue slot which if this is the case would cause the second card not to function correctly.

yep they both in the 2 dark blues using the longer crossfire connect that came with the mobo so they far apart and both in the dark blues. b4 the patch and even if i go back to the 8.10 patch now crossfire will enable and work. it after i update the driver to anything past that.

u had me thinking about maybe the second blue not working right so i just tested it by making it my main and only and it working aswell..bout to plug in the second one but pretty sure same thing will happen.

Was hoping it was a simple one but guess not, maybe check if theres an updated motherboard BIOS available which supports the newer cat' releases.

i've uninstalled and reinstaled trying 8.12 won't work with crossfire and 9.3legend still no go..only one that will let me use my crossfire is the 8.10 i can't understand why it won't take my second card on them. also have updated my motherboard chipset driver..not bios cause i kinda scared to try that one from the stuff i reading on doing so. but did notice theres a lot of patches on there for bios too.

there was a hotfix for this problem ..the code was code43 http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/GPU-6-HotfixthatfixesErrorCode.aspx but hmmmm....it did not fix it for me ..i uninstalled and fully instaled 9.4 then this hotfix and nadda..game me same exact problems and code43 removal of my second game card. this is driving me nuts. i can live with using 8.10 but i doubt every 4870 crossfire is having this issue dunno where to go next.

many talks to ati tecs and days later we are back to where i was with 9.2 like i figured they would say and is this just go back to using 8.10 if that one is working or lol get rid of my vista64 for xp but no thanks to that. thats what i did back to 8.10 and crossfire is working but really wonder what patch they will be at by time they will work for me.
