Ever done a mod to a car, then looked at some pictures from before and thought "bloomin eck, that looked pants!" ?

gave my car a good clean, claybar, scratchX, and wax courtesy of meguire's gold series, and took a picture or two. Thought it looked alright, then just happened to look at a picture of it pre-RSAP...hense this thread:

Yup, its like a NEW car!! Mine was in desperate need of attention so i spent a good weekend and a bit of £££ and its looking smashing! + new wheels!

Went from 15inch stock hubs to 18inch wheels with Semperit sport tires

They are chav because its mostly "chavs" that seem to think that by fitting ludicrously big wheels to otherwise standard, run of the mill cars it earns them some sort of kudos. It makes your car slower, handle worse and makes anyone that knows what they are about regarding cars scoff at you.

Oh and how is owning a Golf at 18 some sort of aspirational target? You might well be an aspiring business type, but I assure you, its no challenge.

Try owning a supercharged Jag XJR at 19 before you go chucking your weight about.

Not sure why everyone is hating the golf, looks a lot smarter with those wheels. Sure it may tramline a bit more, but its not as if the guy has fitted spinners or something.

I am NOT a chav.

and secondly throwing my weight about? all i am stating is that somebody of greater age putting me down as of my "bottom spec car" isn't on. I am trying to get accross that this is my pride and joy and I get slandered as Chav for modifying it in subtle way that makes me feel good that all the money that i work hard for goes on something that I have achieved and earnt.

I posted here to show my hardwork on the paint which made a big difference to the way the car looks. The car is no slower from the wheels if it makes any difference... as its a Bottom spec 1.6 anyways

With regards to aspirational, I believe that everyone has their own goals and dreams etc, cars wasn't one of mine till I passed my test and now showing enthusiasm, but dont know great deals about them.

How big does it make you feel to tell somebody else their own personal aspriations are a joke? Thats like me going to my brother "Nice Mobile phone, shame its not the new £500 one that I can afford"

If you were looking to shred someones pride and joy, way to go, have a medal

They sound a bit teflontastic, did the tyre shop not offer an upgrade to a half decent tyre? I'd get those changed ASAP.

It's not the same thing at all given DRZ isn't pouring scorn on you from on high - he drives a 1994 Ford Mondeo.

I was just posting a like for like transition which made me feel great in a short space of time much akin to the OP

Why so? Infact it was on here that somebody mentioned them as Half decent, so i went for them. as you can tell I cant afford much, so hence the "Chavtastic Cheap reps.."
