Thanks in advance for taking the time.

For a family member and will be helping them order.
We were working on this for a while before, however a change in budget (previously sub-£900) meant a bit more wiggle room (albeit starting over somewhat)
Have donated an SSD (120gb) with clean windows 7 home preloaded + Box, an optical combi drive (internal) and peripherals are also covered.

Aiming for something they won't have to worry about upgrading for 2-3 years or mess about with aside from occasionly changing the fan filters

So they are after ;

ATX Case (mid to small, air) preferbly with room for optical drive
Board + cpu + decent cooler
Games/Storage drive - will be buying large SSD at later date
NVIDIA 970/r9 390 - no inclination towards either of them otherwise, both are adequate
650+ PSU of good quality/efficiency should be fine

Based on current availability ;

YOUR BASKET
EPIC BUNDLE: Intel 4790K, Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7, Kingston 16GB 2400MHz Kit and Superflower 750W PSU **£50 SAVING** £545.93
OcUK Tech Labs - Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.C "Power Edition" £49.64
Fractal Design Define R5 Midi Tower Case - Black Window £88.99
MSI Radeon R9 390 Gaming Edition 819 £289.99
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM £64.99
Total £1,039.55

ideas welcome... especially with the case as suspect could go a bit smaller without making it feel cramped, bearing in mind gpu/cpu cooler dimension
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM if they come back in stock soon
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card if opting for seperate cpu, board, psu than bundle (550w-650w)

In a matter of days Skylake CPU+boards are released.

What is it to be used for? maybe 8Gb will do fine.

Gaming, some streaming/video editing.

They do need it pretty soon.
We had meant to order by this weekend as their present setup (3/4 years old but high street so inferior quality) is on its way out.. we were almost ready to put the order in.
I've let them use my laptop however I'll need that back when I travel, and even then, they are only using it out of neccesity, through no other option.
The stumbling block was finding the extra funds as it upped their expectations a little, plus throwing in a few parts has saved them some pennies.

I completely agree with you, infact I'd wait until new year personally but can understand the urgency

After all that kerfuffle it seems like they should had named it skyflake
x99/5820 with a ddr4 kit is certainly looking the way to go, even more so that its been generously discounted here (saving can go towards the case/better cooling)
Something like the Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Midi (which has that solitary optical bay they wanted) with a couple extra case fans included

They are coming from a kaput i7 960 + gtx 480 which is 5 years old give or take
