£900 gaming rig

X38 mobo will be fine for you. Don't need to spend 180quid.

I'm afraid the HX620 doesn't have the new PCIE connectors ;-). And HD4870 needs 2 of them for each, tho you can go with 8+6. I think this PSU has only one 8pin.

Still you could do with cheaper PSU something in the 600-700 range for 70-80 quid, thermaltake/enermax/tagan.

And get MX-2 instead of AS5 ;).

Rest is all fine.

Is there anything particularly wrong with the Phenom? I checked some reviews and they seem to be pretty nice....

I spec'd this up for myself, but you could swap out a few components for your needs. Just thought id throw in my 2c :D

Phenoms hardly overclock, even tho I've been always with AMD, they don't do the trick at the moment at least gaming wise.

Also, you choose 8500 memory for phenom, 105 quid memory while getting 50quid mobo. 1 300gb raptor ??? what for ?

Men u've messed componenets up and down all the way :p.

------------

I would get thermaltake 750 for PSU but they're outta stock i think, you could call OCuk and check when they get them, maybe it's tommorow, you never know :p.

Oh good point about the RAM, but it was an intel system i was specing up, and i swaped out the MB and CPU for AMD. Also that was the most expensive Motherboard i could find on OcUk, for AM2. I (personally) don't want Crossfire or SLI. I'm not sure about Overclocking but game wise the reviews i saw gave pretty good scores.

You could stick with the HX620 and ask Corsair for a few adaptors (4 pin peripheral to PCI-E), I'm sure I've read somewhere they will send a couple free of charge. Alternatively, you could get this:-

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...name=corsair tx 750w atx2.2 sli compliant psu

http://www.corsairmemory.com/products/tx.aspx

have been happy with mine, or you could go for this:-

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...er 750 quad-crossfire pci-e 750w power supply

http://www.pcpower.com/power-supply/silencer-750-quad-crossfire.html

Has good reviews and PC P & C have a good reputation (fancied this one myself, but no stock when I built my PC, so got the TX750 instead).
