Hi guys,

So I've got a problem. I can't figure how to get a i7 build for gaming and video editing for under £900 without a lot of bottlenecks.

There's already a case (Bitfenix Ghost Silent Tower) and Windows 7 being re-used.

I'll need a 250+GB SSD for the OS and everything else. Was looking at a i7 4770k and GTX 770 combo but that's already half the £900 :(

Hi there,

May I ask what video editing software you are using?

If it is one that uses OpenCL (not CUDA) then you may want to consider opting for a R9 280X like this one on daily deal for £200 instead of the GTX 770.

Here is my suggestion:

Hey guys, wow. Quick responses and a lot of ATI card recommendation. This is a friend's build, by the way.

The reason why I wanted a Intel nVidia (CUDA) combo was to do with Adobe software and the "if it ain't broke" philosophy of CUDA vs OpenCL. So I'm really weighted towards NV cards for him from the off (I've only had ATI's as I'm a "bang for buck" guy).

From the suggestions, I'm thinking of going for the Samsung SSD, Gigabyte MB and Vulcan RAM. i7 and 770 will still be mandatory. The rest will be researched and hunted down.

I might look to tweak RJC's build suggestion a bit and shop around for deals as well to see if I can get it all under the 900 quid mark.

Cheers guys!

If he is using CS6 or newer then it should work just as well with AMD as Nvidia, since it is using OpenCL instead of relying on CUDA.

Furthermore, the R9 280X option has more video memory, more memory bandwidth and is about £30 cheaper.
