I think I'm getting the hang of this, doing another PC for a ginger friend of mine, so naturally the theme is orange. Here is the list of stuff, I've gone for the 850w PSU as the end goal is to add another GPU down the line, want to leave plenty of room. Also, its a 10 year warranty, so could potentially be used for the next 3 PCs of his, this means that the PSU never needs upgrading.

i5 over i7 as he won't be doing anything other than gaming. I know its only +£80 more, but I can't convince him. Hoping to have the cash left over for a HDD, but again... he is like "I can get that later" (and me install it ... >_>). Anyway, just want a check to see if this is good enough.

Oh, also went for the SOC as I have mine for sale, and its orange, so he is getting that for £100 (whilst I buy a new bk one).

He can't have that case Stulid, thats my case (albeit red)!!!! I chose the 340 as I'd quite like to build in it, and that its like mine but smaller.

1mm is cutting if close though, can you recommend another cooler that fits the theme?

+ 1 for that SSD then! More money saved means mooooar for me. Tempted to save on the cables if the EVGA ones look like that then, but orange would really complete it!

They will not guarantee the condition of a case or open it up to check.

read the thread - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18632975&page=2

A few people with broken parts, missing parts etc.

In fact he said,

every time we do a b grade sale this happens.

we simply cant do that.

sorry.

a b-grade item may have missing accessories or small/negligible minor imperfections meaning it cannot be sold as new.

due to security reasons, we are unable to open or inspect stock booked into our warehousing system.

True, but the cases themselves shouldn't be damaged

Worth a punt, no? If not, only ~£27 more for the new case

Ah I see now, probably better to go for the new case. However the AIO should be new as it isn't b-grade, only clearance. That's definitely a good deal

Really don't fancy doing a case in a bitfenix case, done two builds and both are cable management nightmares and have had some rather crappy build quality.

I could go for a water cooler and can get hold of a H100i for around £70, but just wanted to go air for this. Would really like the look of a black heatsink, but as Stulid says, there just ain't many of them.

I think I am going to risk the Raijintek ... then we will all know if it fits or not!! If that doesn't fit them I am going to go for the Alpenföhn Brocken and just rip the purple fans off and replace with those orange ones!

Just about to buy it all as well, so will get a build log up. See if we can get a nice ginger build.

If the cooler does not fit (im sure it will) you always have the stock cooler to fall back on until you can work out a solution.

Also the H100i has two issues with Win8+8.1 they can be fixed but are a pain.

1) Purple LED logo, to get rid of it you have to flash the firmware to a previous version and stop the corsair link software from trying to update it again.

2) Fan options not appearing in the link software, I find pulling the USB cable out while the PC is ON and refitting it, makes it ask for a restart/new hardware detected scenario and that usually fixes it upon the restart.

Cheers Stulid, thats going to help with a mate of mine who wanted the H100i and 8.1, hopefully the black cooler I got will fit (will know by tuesday!!).

Wondering if a 144hrz monitor is going to go well with the kit above? I really want to see one in action and can pretty much convince the lad to pick one up. He is also into his FPS games but wondered if the 290 will be able to pull the FPS needed to use one of these well?

Plan is to eventually crossfire like I said, and 2x290's wouldn't struggle. But say if you only pull 80 FPS on a 144hr monitor, does it make it look all strange?

You dont need to match frame rate with refresh rate to get the benefits of 144Hz, it makes everything smooth.
