I've got £900 to spend, and I need something good. It's my first build, so I don't really know what I'm doing, which is why I'm asking for all your expertise. I don't need a monitor as I'll be using a 32" HDTV (1920X1080), and I don't need a mouse or keyboard, but I do need eveything else. It will be used 90% of the time for gaming. What do i buy?

you need speakers?

If not this is my offering:

Here is a spec for a very powerful gaming rig based on the Core 2 Quad q6700:

The q6700 may not be as powerful or as future proof as the i7 or AM3 but it is more than enough for current and likely future gaming as most games are heavily graphics bound. I spent the money saved on a very powerful graphics card which will play games at your resolution extremely well. I added a very good cooler so the chip is always very cool and you can try your hand at overclocking it whenever you like.

I did not opt for an operating system because I am finding it hard to point people onto vista when windows 7 is coming out very soon and the free release candidate is so capable. I recommend going to this website - download the 64 bit version of windows 7 RC and use it on the new computer - then when win 7 is released you can buy a copy of it (cost of OS left in the budget for the build).

Both look pretty good, but I am trying to future proof the PC as much as possible, which is why I am swaying towards the DDR3 specification. Thanks anyway. Keep the suggestions coming.

How about this, dont forget that the Graphics card come with 2 games, and you can OC the cpu.

Edit, my first spec
