9000 series specs and dates!

"GeForce 9800GTX will sport no more than 675MHz core frequency, which is basically slightly faster than the GeForce 8800GTS 512MB."

NEXXXT!.

Does this in any way suggest that graphics hardware is reaching a limitation? (In its current form factor any way)

Well graphics cards have become bigger and bigger over the last few years. The 8800GTX is pretty much the limit in terms of physical size - unless a lot of people buy bigger cases. If they can't reduce the size then they're gonna have to reduce the process - and even that can only help to a certain extend.
But then again - You're right there's no real need for them to invest in getting a new super high end product out there for now :)

I think in size terms ati go for more layers on the pcb which probably lets them fit more components into a smaller space. nvidia on the other hand seem content just adding to the length of the card, which obviously isn't an ideal solution for everyone =/

To be honest, nvidia are just getting lazy and i really hope it comes back to bite them in the ass. Would be nice to see r700 piledriving anything nvidia can get to the market untill early next year. That'll make them get the finger out instead of producing these half assed refreshes.

They're already wrong:

GeForce 9600GT 64 600MHz 256-bit 1800MHz

They're about as trustworthy as a hungry hobo and your last sandwich.
