I have just had installed 900mbs fibre, i get the full speed if i plug a laptop direct into the modem (only has 1 socket) if i used a tp link gigabit switch it drops to 100mbs (same cables).. is it as i suspect that TP link switches are Pants. The modem is linksys, so i might order an 8 port linksys gigabit switch

Have you tried both cables with the laptop direct to the router and/or tried other network cables to eliminate a cable issue?

Personally prefer Netgear switches as they've been solid and long lasting for me.

Tp-Link switches are very good as it goes
i found a 5port tplink gigabit switch in my box of bits, it only worked at 100mbs as well, i have another coming tommorrow, which is linksys same brand as router./modem not the best, but it matches, and then the ISP wont have any excuse if it doesnt work

Very funny…
What’s funny? Metal case construction, strong firmware, good reputation for fixing issues. Loads of features for the price point. Cheap. Their 4G routers are pretty much the market leaders in the SOHO market. Certainly under £120 there is very little to compete with the TP-Link 4G kit.

turns out the gigabit cables provided with the device werent. I had some 10gb cables from work now working at full speed.... i just have to get it upstairs now.. i have gigabit powerline adaptors but they arent going much a 100mbs

IT give me a superlong cat 6a cable, plus a cat6a coupler and another cable just incase, and let me a cable stable gun.. so hopefully full speed upstairs after the weekend. I only have to go to the room directly above

Been there, done that…
Done similar, before I had a PoE switch I had an injector, then wondered why the access point wouldn't power on, took around 30 minutes to realised that there is a little switch next to the power socket that needs to be switched to the on position. I was waiting for a PoE switch at the time, but thought I'd get setup beforehand, turns out I set myself up!
