Was a little sad seeing the 911 Turbo being picked and taken back to the dealer:

Good news is I was less sad after picking this up -

2012 F10M M5 in Alpine White with Sekhir Orange Extended Leather interior.
The car only has 5k km on it and the car is highly specced including night vision, rear entertainment, active security package, seat ventilation, soft close doors, rear electric sunblind, rear camera.

As described in the reviews - one moment it is a super luxury sedan and then with the touch of a button a total bat out of hell!

Awesome car. Horrible colour.

I would agree - white would not be my first choice but in Dubai white cars have better resale for the local market. There was a blue one available but less spec more miles for the same money.

That tends to imply then that blue ones have better residuals than white ones if it cost the same despite more miles and lower spec :p

i wasnt expecting to see the M5 as a replacement for the 911 Turbo

excellent choice though, especially like the colour of the seats

Interestingly the minute I brought the white one, the blue one was reduced by 2.5k. Funny people second hand car dealers. It also had a light colour leather interior which I was not so keen on.

Aren't most of the roads really straight with traffic lights at every intersection?

I await your lunatic Dubai drift video with interest!! :D

For some reason (lord knows why!) I expected an M5 and was right!

I agree re the colour though, I don't think I've ever seen my brother in laws white f10 looking anything other than dirty....

Whilst the M5 is an epic car, it seems an odd choice after a 911 turbo, may I ask why?
Expanding family perhaps?

And as I say, post that drifting video :D ;)

I have owned 2 porsches in Dubai over the last year or so, the carrera and turbo. Both are brilliant drivers cars and especially the turbo is enough to properly frighten you with the taps fully opened up. The issue with cars like them is that for day to day driving in Dubai it is a massive pain. There are speed bumps everywhere and with the aerokit on the Turbo it was 7km/h over them or risk grazing it. Also some of the roads in the city leave a little to be desired in terms of being pretty rough. In the end it was just not an enjoyable experience as a daily driver.

Sure there are plenty of good roads out of the city but more and more they are heavily enforced with speed cameras.

After a lot of looking at something a bit more comfortable with power i.e. panameras and a variety of benzs the M5 was the winner for me. Actually they are massively overpriced here (new they are over 105k sterling) so a nearly new one with the brunt of the depreciation over was a better choice.
