915 chipset and best CPU

What do you guys reckon will be the best CPU I can put in a 915G chipset mobo. The manufacturer reckons a P4 640 but there again they reckon the mobo can only support 1gb of RAM whereas the PC currently has 4gb.

I was thinking maybe a Pentium 4 D of some sort? Anybody running anything exotic in a 915 mobo?
