920 seems to be defualt overclocking itself?

So i have an i7 920 d0 and a rampage 2 extreme. The newest bios at defualt settings. I ran prime 95 and the clock speed according to coretemp and realtemp is 2.8-2.9 ghz as opposed to stock 2.66 ghz?

Any insight?

I think its the turbo boost feature on the i7's adds about 200mhz to your clock speed.

Yeah it's the turbo. Without it it runs at 20x133Mhz which give 2.66GHz. With the turbo it ups the multiplier to 21, running at about 2.8Ghz.
