920 to sandybridge

Having this week installed bigger PSU and second 1GB GTX 460, I am sure that my i7 930 system will be fine for a good long while.

However its easy to see why people are in such a state of 'should I upgrade or not'. After all the majority of online and magazine reviews of Sandybridge that I have seen claim its release has 'blown the previous generation out of the water' and 'consigned them to the scrap heap'. Clearly this is vastly exaggerated, but the average consumer can't help but bring into question their current system's longevity, even if they know its all in their mind!

Sandybridge sounds wonderful, but having just gone SLI this week, with a PSU that is probably overkill, I figure I should get off my rear and finally get into the world of overclocking - taking my standard clock i7 to at least 3.6 as a start.

Just need to search out the overclocking guide...

If you want to compare overclocked cpu the sandy bridge will destroy the old i7 as it overclocks much higher with many members here hitting 5 gig or higher with the sandy bridge chips.

You say hitting 5GHz, yes but how many could run at this 24/7? Out of all thats been sold by OCUK and are members of this forum running Sandys.
