Just bought a 3rd computer just for my son to use, intending to put in a spare Radeon 9600pro i got lying around.....only to open it and find PCI slots only  so my question is which of these following cards is gonna be the best option in their price range :

PNY Verto GeForce FX 5500 128MB DDR PCI TV-Out Retail Box for £35
or
GECUBE RADEON 9250 PCI 256MB Edition with Passive heatsink for £48

Type of games he plays mostly are the Age of Empire ones....but he does like the odd CoD2/BF2 runaround....will either of these cards cut the mustard playing CoD2/BF2.....my other son got an Nvidia 5700Le in his PC and this seems to run both the aforementioned games OK.
I am thinking the 9250 option tbh....but I thought I would ask before purchasing it.
Cheers.

Umm, your not actually allowed to post links to competitor websites, so you might want to edit those out.

As a thought, have you tried to get hold of a cheap motherboard that supports your CPU/memory that actually has an AGP slot. I'm betting you could get one for that kinda price range, as it would be a shame for the 9600Pro to go to waste.

I did think about that...but as the PC is only a week old, I didn't really want to be going down that road. Mite just go for the 256mb 9250 option.

Well I used to have a 9250 and it ran CoD 2 at low-medium settings at 1024x768 OK, about 15-20FPS.

Yeah, my dad ran COD2 on a 9250SE in dx7 mode and it was pretty good. Recently gave him a 9600XT, now hers going to explore the wonders of doom3/quake4 :D

OMG  nothing like the 333fps I got mine limited to on my system which is running the X850 XT Platinum. :p

Might just end up binning the mobo and getting a replacement, has the benefit of further upgrades in the future I am thinking now. Thanks for your advice guys 'n' gals.

As Energize has said, the 6200 is about the best you can get for PCI

It's still not nearly as good as a 9600Pro though so I'd go with the new motherboard like you suggested :)

If your new PC is from that rather large Intel only US vendor then they use non standard parts so you won't be able to replace the motherboard unfortunately
