Recently AMD announced that they were releasing an updated BIOS for the 7950 which takes the core clock of the card to 925Mhz. Unfortunately the company that made my card (Sapphire) have not released a version of this updated BIOS. So I was wondering if I could just overclock the card using AMD Overdrive to 925Mhz anyway and forget about the new BIOS?

Any help is appreciated :).

Yup I would go to at least that, I could run my vapor-x at 1000/1400 on stock volts. I upped the voltage a tad to take it to 1100/1500. Happy at the moment and been running it like that 24/7 for about 2 weeks with no probs. :)

Yep it should be fine at that core speed. Obviously individual cards all have their own overclocking limits though and there will be exceptions. Some will be better than others.

My TF3 runs @ 1100/1500 happily but have also tried 1150/1500 since unlocking afterburner unofficial overclocking (really don't need to hit 1200 core but confident it would do it).

Nearly all 7950s are happy running 1ghz on the core. I have a normal Sapphire 7950, and it's happy running the core on 1ghz with no problems.

Go for it, you don't need the BIOS. Just use Cat Control Panel or use afterburner to clock up. Run BF3 if you have it or Heaven or 3DMark11, these should show if it's stable but agreed, you should get 1ghz on that core without much problem, I'd be surprised if you can't.
