I've not long ago upgraded my socket 754 system with an HIS X1950 Pro and 2 GB ram. My older games run great, but newer game demos such as World in Conflict and Medal of Honor: Airborne slow down every now and then.

I was thinking of purchasing a second hand Abit AV8 or AV8 RocketBoy motherboard (I'm lead to believe they are one of the same) and either an Athlon 64 4000+ (single core) or Athlon 64 X2 4200+.

I already have a buyer for my current motherboard and processor so it is only going to cost me around £50 max to do this.

I currently run all my games at 1024x768 as this is maximum playable resolution my monitor supports (which I'm very happy with).

Do you think this is a worthwhile thing to do and if so what processor would you recommend?

My current system specs are;
Asus K8V SE Deluxe Motherboard
Athlon 64 3200+ (Socket 754)
HIS X1950 Pro 512mb IceQ 3 Turbo AGP
2 x 1 GB Crucial Ram
Corsair HX520W PSU
