I have a very stupid question I need to ask before buying a new mobo. If I'm not overclocking at all (too old for OC now), happily run everything at stock speed and just want a fast, trouble-free PC should I go for Intel or AMD? I remember reading people saying that Intel systems tend to be more stable than AMD's due to better chipsets? I've got my Pen IV NW 3.2 for over 2 years and it has been absolute rock-solid stable.
I've never built an AMD PC before, ever, since my first 286 :D ! Have things been improved since then? The green box that says Opteron 170 is lying silently on my table and waiting to be opened. Should I sell it and get a Pen D 940 or should I order an A8N32 Deluxe? I guess about 90% of posters here are running AMDs, are they trouble-free machines?

as good as AMD chips are, ive recently 'upgraded' from a 146 @ 3Ghz to a 920D @ 4Ghz (so far), the Intel System deffinatly feels more solid overall, obviously it is not really fair comparing a single core to a dualcore variant. These Preslers are awesome, to say the least :D

Why did you "upgrade" and why didn't you go for AMD dual core instead of Intel's?

Now I'm total confused  Probably need to do more research before deciding. The 4MB cache is also very tempting, does the 1MB extra cache on each core make any difference in real life situation at all? What kind of apps like big cache?
