Are these temps too high? They seem high.

This is on an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro with Arctic Cooling MX-2.

Thank you

Use RealTemp, but that will just give you a reading 10C less. If you want to use CoreTemp, then you can change the Tj.Max to 95, but i would just use RealTemp instead.

It doesn't matter what he uses to read the temps. They're still waaay too high.

Nope. It should be idling at a more than 30c in Real Temp.

Have you got much air flowing through your case, and do you have a graphics card dumping hot air into the case? Also check that all 4 legs of the cooler are firmly in place.

Where would I download Real Temp & is it better than Core Temp for quad Cores on Vista 64?

I have a QX6700 & Core Temp is giving me the same readings on idle.

Also, just out of curiosity Fisha is your CPU fan set to Q-Fan mode or running a full speed?

Hi I'm having the same problem with my recently purchased Q9450!
Running about 47 degrees (according to realtemp) with stock cooler and arctic 5 thermal paste.
BIOS however says CPU is at 32 degrees so I think this is more trustworthy...hopefully anyway!

MY Q9450 idles in the mid 50s, mid 60s under load. No problem at all. I've now stopped monitoring or worrying about temperatures.

those temps are about right for a B3 stepping QX6700 - realtemp will make no difference to core temp on this cpu as its not a 45nm

the Q9450 is a 45nm cpu and also has a lower Tjunction to the extreme QX6700.

These apps work out CPU temp using the Tjuncion max. If they get this number wrong then the temps reported will be wrong.

anyways that cpu should be at those temps under load

I don't think any of the programs are right TBH. It doesn't really matter what it idles at, as long as the load temps are under 65C (or nowhere near the shut down point) and running stable then theres nothing to worry about.
