We don't talk much about mobos based on the 945P chipset and I can understand why as they're not at the bleeding edge where participants here like to be. However I need to use one as I have 4 x 512MB DDR2/400 RAM and an 820 CPU to house. I have a choice between an Asus P5LD2 SE (rev 2) and a Gigabyte GA-945P-S3. As far as I can tell they're near enough the same functionally and the only real difference I can see is that the Asus has better heatsinks on the chipset. Has anyone got any other reasons to choose on over the other?

The thing is that I have the Asus & Gigabyte here and can send back the one I don't use. Looks like I'll have to toss a coin....

I'd go for asus as i like the bios en well err, i own a normall p5ld2 rev 1.03 atm, and it clocks nice for a p4, so i expect it too for the conroes...
Always been more on asuses side tho as from experience, more gigabytes died here than asuses, only gigabyte i'd consider are the 965P series.

Did you look at any 945PL chipset mobos?

I think its an updated 945P chipset, included Core2 Duo support and they are mega cheap (under £60!).
