i could prime for hours on end but since installing my 5850 i fail after 20/30 seconds

any ideas what i can do to correct this would more voltage help as i'm at a bit of a loss as to what to try

If you need a full bios breakdown of my settings then let me know

*edit* the whole rig is perfectly stable doing everything else even with the 5850 running 950/1200 running benchies 06,vantage,kombuster,eunigine etc etc no game crashes, just prime 95 fails so quick it's silly

Mabee your psu? I know the corsairs are usually good units but it might not be providing enough power with the additional demands of the 5850.

HX 750 and i'm only pulling about 400watts when using prime and kombuster at the same time i did think psu but then thought i highly doubt it

test as follows

sytem idle, 130 watts
under prime 95, 235 watts
stock gpu speeds kombuster, 266 watts
o/c gpu speeds kombuster, 305 watts
prime and kombuster at stock gpu setting, 362 watts
prime and kombuster at o/c gpu setting, 406 watts

so still 350 watts left in the psu and that if i ran prime and kombuster at the same time which i don't lol, while running eunigine i use about 320 watts and gaming varies a lot

Got your old card to put back in and try again? just in case the CPU has degraded over that time and is no longer stable anyway?

unfortunately not

just upgraded my bios to the latest and been running prime now for 20 minutes instead of 20 seconds

this latest bios added full support for 955 BE C3 and now seems to be ok. I'll do a full test tomorrow and see what happens. Strange how a bios can affect things like that

My best guess is the system was never stable to begin with.
You can run Prime95 for days but it will fail the Intel burn test in minutes.

no when i first set the overclock i did passes of 20 on IBT no problem wondering if it might be a heat issue with the hot weather we have as i set my overclock up in january when it was pretty cold
