955be..When is it too hot?

That should be more than sufficient mate. They are a good cooler. Just make sure when you re apply the thermal paste that its seated correctly etc. Should make a difference with the new paste. Clean out the fans and heatsink from dust as well. Should help a fair bit.

Other serious option is to look at Corsair H50 and the Coolit it Eco systems. Reasonable for what you get and a good thing for a gamer to be honest. Though if water sealed is not your thing then consider a Pro Magahalems

Those options are the best around at the moment though. Just other options to consider if temps were of still of a concern after reseating the current.

thanks, i am getting around 30-32c while i am just surfing and listening to music
just wondering when it should be safe to give a game a shot.

i will have a look at the fans as well, the side fans should be okay as when adding the 2nd optional fan and they were fine, i will check the intake and out take fans as well. will check the other coolers you suggested if temps dont improve.

i spent about 10mins making sure that the whole of the CPU was covered - ONLY the top :)
trying to make it as flat as possible, i got the fan back on a bit easier and it seemed to be fine. just worry of when i should stress it with a game to check temps and how long it would take before i see a drop in temps

thanks for the help

No problem , you are most welcome. :)

If you are happy and everything is reseated then you can stress it anytime. If there is any problems there you will see them now sooner rather than later.

Best of luck

Okay thanks i will give gaming a shot now and see what happens
i have moved my desktop outta its place to give it some more space to breathe :)

The wouldnt ever want my 965 going over 60C

Huh?

after about 30mins of Burnout The Ultimate Box maxed out i got total of 56c on all 4 cores of the 955 and hit max of 69c on the 5850. thats slightly better for the CPU as it was hitting 63c but the GPU, thats kinda getting a bit hot and i have the 2 optional fans going which are nearly right over it, maybe a GPU cooler might be worth getting?

The good news is that the temps have dropped back down to around 30/31c quite quickly having quit the game less then a minute ago and they have dropped by 25c which is good but still not too sure about the high GPU temp, maybe because Burnout uses a lot of GPU power?

okay thanks for the info, still not too keen on the CPU temps
anyway to bring them down further?what should i really be looking for when gaming?
i mean what is the highest temp and not too be too worried about overheating?

Hardware Monitor doesnt seem to do this
what can i use that will work that shows the CPU temp?
i tried Real Temp but i get the error about the CPU not being supported
