Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how are you running SLI on an x48 board? I thought they could only do CrossFire...

if you read the ops motherboard he says a 680 reffering to a 680i which is a nvidia chipset and also sli

He is quoting the guy who is doing it with a X48 board, but the guy may not be running sli
having a physx card is seperate from sli. Littlepuppy has one GTX280 and another card for physx, I think. His sig's a mess so I assume that he accidentaly typed the GTX 280 in twice,
Thats what i was referring to, and yes, i think you're right. I read it as he had the same as the op - ie sli'd cards and a 3rd for physx. The guy i quoted said he was running the same as the op but i think he does just have 2 cards.
So if that is the case, could you use a crossfire board for an nvidia card + 1 second card for physx ?
I think so, it's not sli, so I don't see the issue.
Yes it will be fine, i did it on a P35 board, however the 2nd PCI-E slot only ran at x4 unless you have an X48

No its in there for folding, SLI board on the way though.....

So to be clear I will run the GTX 280 's in SLI and the 9600 for physx...
which is overkill but Ive always liked doing stuff like that!

Yes mate unless someone makes a crazy offer! Ive got rid of the DFI and the e8500 which was quite sad as they served me really really well. Getting my first ever ASUS board which should be cool... I have ordered a GTX 260 tonight from here though bit of an impulse buy, will think of something to do with it!
