Hi all. Since I've just upgraded my PSU and case fan, the next most noisy thing in my system is my old school 9600 Pro video card fan.

Can I just run this fanless (it's heavily overclocked) but leave the heatsink on i.e. cool it passively, or if not, what fan / heatsink combos are still out there that will cool this thing quietly?

V grateful

Robert.

PS it's a Connect 3D 128 MB version.

I managed to do this a few years, but it was a non-overclocked card.

Do you mean run passively? Presumably if I try running it passively it'll display heat-related artefacts before it sheerly blows up?

the fan has all but packed up on my kids 9600xt in their shuttle, had to remove case and aim a fan at it just to nake the pc usable, gets damn hot

trying to find a small cooler for it is a mare, looks like i am gonna have to just replace the whole card :(
