Not bad. Before i started with high end components, i used the mid range a lot. 66gt, 76gt and 86gt

Very disappointed in the 86gt, but the 66gt and especially the 76gt we're awesome, and at the right price, this 96gt looks like it could be too...

Might get a couple of these to play with... when volt mods get published ofc

If I remember rightly, the 8800 GS is just a limited production run product which was intended for OEMs... Of course, nVidia's add in board partners just had other ideas. I've seen the 8800 GS for pre-order on one site, though.

I was planning on getting a 8800 GT - don't mind waiting for a 9800 GT if it's bringing DX10.1 to the table? But how long? Is 9600 GT DX10.1? I'm just looking for something to accelerate Blu-Ray/HD-DVD and the odd gaming.

Most likely a way for nvidia to get rid of the defective 8800GT chips (ie ones that only had 96 working stream processors).

performance difference from 66gt to 76gt is around the same speed difference from 76gt to 86gt.

8600gt is deffo a lot faster than the 7600gt. not sure how people think a 7600gt is better than a 8600gt.
