hi,

i just had my pc running and i had to reboot it to install updates, when it restarted it booted up fine. however when i logged in i noticed that only one of my temperatures (for my 2 9600GT's) was displaying on the sidebar gadget.

so i went to nvidia control panel and normally there is a setting 'set SLI and Physx configuration' but it was only 'set physics configuration' this time, strange i thought. so i went into GPU-Z and at the bottom there is the drop down menu to select the different cards, but there was only one card displayed there. went into device manager and looked under display adapters, and again only one card there.:confused:

have tried rebooting again and no change. the fan still spins up on both of the cards but it only detects the one with the screen plugged into and in the primary PCIe slot.

i need to get this sorted because one card is not enough to play my games on:mad:

does anyone have any idea or had this problem before?

any help will be appriciated

cheers,

ali

Spec:
Intel C2Q Q6600 @ 3Ghz
Asus Striker II Formula
2x 1Gb kingston hyperx memory @ 970Mhz
2x palit/xvision 9600GT (stock)
Samsung F1 750Gb
PC power and cooling 750 quad
Windows 7 RC ultimate 32-bit

also have just noticed that the fan speed is at 100% on the second card (the one thats not being detected) whereas the fan speed on the primary (working) card is at 35% (default)

try uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them again, if that doesnt work then maybe try swapping the cards to the opposite slots? its all i can really think of, if one card still isnt being detected after you swap them over then you should be able to figure out if its a faulty card or a faulty pcie slot (i hope its neither)

having seen that pic in your other topic i think the card might be broken mate, does the card giving you the problems work as a single card with the other one removed? if it doesnt then i think you should remove it and try to get a replacement

well at least rma is a option so it wont cost you anything (except postage) ;)
i hope you sort it out by swapping them , its always annoying having to rma something

have swapped them around and bad news

card is defo dead pc turned on and fans spun up lcd display sed 'VGA bios' and then immediately switched to 'errormsg' and nothing on the screens  so i will RMA it.

trouble is i have never RMA'd anything do i just ring em up and send it in?

sorry to hear that mate, if you ring them then they will give you a rma number that you write on the packaging somewhere
that way they know whats wrong with it and what to expect ;) i hope it doesnt take too long to get a replacement

when you send it off you would be best to use a courier like dhl and book a collection online,it wont cost you much more than £15 but the post office will charge you about £25-£30
another thing to remember is that couriers often give cheaper prices when you book a collection online than when you book over the phone
