9600GT

I take it then that the 9800GT is more powerful?

I'm looking to build a rig with an
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
9600GT/9800GT
4GB Ram
Abit A-N68SV MoBo
and my old optical drive, 500w psu and case I think.

I think it'd get me decent fps on most games.

I'm thinking also or maybe going for either 2 9600GT's in Sli or just a single 9800GT, or maybe 2 9800GT's in Sli, if the MoBo could take it... but then again if I was spending that much money on 2 cards I could probably just upgrade to a better single card...

not to mention the fact that I'm playing at 1280*800 res on a 19"/20" monitor... If I upgraded to a 22" monitor I guess I'd need to lower the game settings too if I was playing at 1280*800 and still wanted decent fps with that rig.

if your playing at 1280x800 then the 9800gt will do exactly what you want but if yu upgrade to a a 22" monitor or above your really looking at a 4870 or gtx 260

Hows the 9800GTX?

And I take it it's better to get a 1GB version of the 9800GT instead of the 512MB version lol.
