Hi guys

having issues connecting up my 2 hard drives & 2 DVD drives with my Gigabyte 965P ds3 mobo

I have bought an IDE connector card as my 2 hard drives are IDE - connected the 2 hard drives to card & 2 DVD drives to mobo....I have installed card by firstly connecting 1 HD & DVD to mobo then installing XP & card drivers successfully but when i then try to connect HD to card & reboot I get BOOT ERROR.....do i have to mess around in BIOS to point PC to connector card first..if so, how do I do that?

Cheers

I thought you had this sorted?

Anyway - In the BIOS go into Advanced BIOS features.

Hard disk boot priority is the first option - choose 'add-in card' or depending on how smart the system is you may get offered a choice of hard drives (but I doubt it)

Then I would make sure that my boot disk is on the 0 port of the add-in card as that's where I would expect it to look first. The fact that you are getting a BOOT ERROR would suggest the machine can't find a boot sector on the disk it's spinning up.

Try that and come back if it doesn't work. I still think that the 680i card thinks it's RAID (do you get a RAID screen when the machine BOOTs up?) and unless to flash the BIOS to a vanilla ATA133 card it won't run right.
