965P v's P35

i currently own a Gigabyte 965P DS3P rev 3.3 is there any reason for me to upgrade to a P35 chipset as i never overclock ?

nope, iirc rev3.3 has 45nm BIOS support.

It has unofficial support for 45nm i just wondered if the p35 chipset would bench any higher at stock settings ifnot i may aswell keep the rev3.3

It should be, it has better memory management, but it's going to be an extremely small difference.

Probably no point to be honest. The P35 is an awesome chipset, but before that the 965 was pretty damn good.

If you're interested in bench results then the P35 mobo will bench higher but only by a small fraction so you'd never notice the small improvement at the desktop.

P35 northbridge and ICH9/ICH9R southbridge.

The main difference is quad-core overclocking and better memory management.

Hold off until you're in need of a serious upgrade.

P965 will see me out until I go to DDR3 and quad core.

P965 is ICH9/ICH9R, same as P35 in most cases. It hasn't been ICH8 since the P875 boards, has it?

P965 was ICH8/R. 975x was ICH7R IIRC.

P35 tend to have better power regulation and thereby overclock power hungry quads a little better. If you aint overclocking I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
