97 clk 230 limp mode

Won't rev past 2000-2500 rpm. In park neutral or drive.

Any ideas? No malfunctions or lights on dash

I'll get one off a mate, going to leave battery disconnected for 10 minutes in morning.

Would a bad supercharger cause this? It feels software capped rather than mechanical.

Car was literally fine all day

I think it's a gear box fault now.
