970 Bios related query

Quick question about Vbios - Can a video card bios become corrupted during normal operation? I ask because I have had an absolute result buying a faulty card from Gumtree . Basically a guy was selling a 970 Strix which was not outputting a display, I paid £20 for it. When I got it home I confirmed the fault - then used the intel GPU to boot into windows, and flashed a Strix 970 bios from Techpowerup GPU database. I cant quite remember what the command line said but it did mention that the EEPROM was corrupt or missing or something. Anyway I have flashed it and it seems to be working fine, had heaven running for an hour and all good.



I feel kind of bad for the guy but what can you do.....

I really wouldn't worry about it, I recently bought a dead x58 mobo for 15 pounds or something, it works fine now for me

It sounds more like the original owner tried to flash a custom BIOS or something but didn't do his homework.

Massive result for £20!
