Does anyone know manufacturers safe operating temp limit for the 970 (specifically gigabyte G1 gaming) and what temp it would throttle at?

I am using them in SLI and getting a top of 80/70 which is dumping a lot of heat in my case. If its safe I'm not going to worry.

Wondering if I need to look at getting another case instead. I really like my setup not just performance but the aesthetics..

Currently I have an NZXT S340 but wondering if I should get an HAF case?
Or I could put an intake fan on the side window?

Well I've been using with an exhaust fan and it's not much different. However a colleague had told me he had the same issue and an intake fan was a lot more effective.

Try the fan as intake, id be interested in seeing your results as your cards are similair in design to mine. Whats your boards pcie slot spacing like too?

This is my first foray into SLI so can't compare but it's an ASUS Maximus VII Ranger

There's one slot between them. Gonna have to drill some holes for it after some testing later this week. I will be updating this thread though.

So back to fans. What size AirFlow fan should one be looking at for a side window?
Any suggestions for exact fan to use for intake onto GPUs? I was thinking of getting a 200mm or a 140mm.

Tested with the side of but the fan rigged in the right place and as an intake it worked much better. GPU1 topped at around 71c after running Heaven on extreme preset for an hour and that's with the Enermax T.B silence I had lieing round, will by a better AF and get the dremel out.

Yeah pretty happy with that, just hope I can do a good job modding the side panel. I've never really dabbled in modding before but had a rotary tool for a while :)
