why do you think no one buys em !!! great made cards power usage just lol.

You do know that advice like this is always based on cheap £19.99 PSU's that have 750 Watt's written on the box but are actually only 350 Watt's.

Go away, do some research and come back when you've learnt something. Though I suspect you already know all there is to know and your post is just to cause trouble.

I have a 4770k overclocked an a 290x and the most power I've seen being used is 450W and that includes monitor and speakers.

Seriously OP, stick with what you have. If it has been trouble, of course send it back but if it has been a nuisance free, stay.

Most of the 970 vitriol is by AMD users.

Lol the 970 thread is full of 970 users complaining, I guess you also think the official nvidia fourm is full amd users also then?

I'm sending mine back as well and really want the lightning but it's just too much money now. I keep trying to get one cheap like they were but no luck :( I think I might just get a cheap 290

Mine are going back asap, Im grabbbing one of those phillips 40" 4k monitors also so ill get 3x lightnings instead (though im not sure if a 1kw superflower plat will handle 3 and a 4930k) may be new psu time.

I'm not sure ...I'm no longer in the camp that the gtx 970 is a 289 quid card...

you may not be but they are a recrd selling card. so the very small percent bothered by the small issue wont effect the overall price as many will buy regardless.

The 970 is as good as 290X at 1080p, it's only at 1440p that the 290X begins to pull away and the 290 catches up.

However the 970 is very good for overclocking so really I'd only consider a swap if you are getting real issues in games or out of principle. Remember the 970 does still have more memory than a 780.

Woahhhhh!!! If you are going to grab 3 x lightnings for 4K, do yourself a big favour and grab the 8GB versions. 4GB just isn't enough to run 4K with all the bells and whistles but you will have the grunt in 3xcards to run them like that if you wish.

There are so many variables it's difficult to decide what to do.

Having come from a 290 I wouldn't go back to AMD, even with the memory issue that the 970 cards have.

If it was me, especially at 1080p, stick with what you have and upgrade later on down the line.

970 to a 295x2 @ £499.99 :D bit more bang for buck than those 970 users who stepped up to a 980 :p I would rather have the raw power of two 290s even than have the 980 for the same price.

Which 290 did you have and why would you not go back?
