970 to a 980ti Upgrade, or wait?

980ti hasn't been out long. Why is everyone saying wait?

The new cards are a long way off, will be riddled with issues and will not be as bigger jump as everyone thinks.

The above happens on every new gen.

You want a new card just go and buy it. The only time to wait is if you know a Ti or newer flavour of the same card is coming in like a month.

£500+ for a GPU that's near eol. Unless your extemely wealthy and love wasting £500+ then go right ahead. if not then wait.

Wasting £500? That's a bit of an overstatement. At worst you've wasted the 200 quid resale value you've lost with the new cards coming out. But then again, what if a worthy replacement card doesn't come out until late 2016? If you've waited almost a year for that card, and your old set up hasn't been satisfying you during that time, that £200 seems like good value. It's not really as black and white of a decision as you make out. Increased enjoyment of your passtime over months is worth something, to me at least...

Been thinking about this my self. Except my situation is a 290x so similar performance.

980Ti would last for some time and as far as im aware the next gen equivalant to the 980Ti most likley won't be out until 2017. Mid/high will come first in 2016 followed by 1080Ti / Titan in 2017 enthusiast cards.

By the time this happens its going to be at least a year and i doubt ill jump straight on upgrading as you pay stupid release prices. You have to wait a fair few month for prices to drop. So in this case 980ti? untill then?
